The Health & Wellness Branch

The Health & Wellness Branch was approved at the Safety 2011 Council on Practices & Standards (CoPS) meeting and is sponsored by the Healthcare Practice Specialty. The Health & Wellness Branch provides a forum to raise awareness and educate its' members on personal and global health and well-being and the connection to safety. Health issues, fatigue, stress, diet and physical fitness factor into illness, injuries and incidents. Wellness plays an important part in safety, health and productivity. The Health & Wellness Branch will establish a knowledge base along with tools and resources to help safety professionals become proficient in influencing employers and employees to take action that promotes a safer, healthier workforce and happier employees.


The branch publishes a triannual electronic newsletter, and sponsors technical sessions at ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference.

Cascade Chapter SPY Search

The Cascade Chapter is on a SPY search! The SPY—Safety Professional of the Year—will be awarded to a safety professional who has made significant contributions to the local safety and health community through outstanding technical work, contributions to an employer’s safety and health programs, and volunteerism and activities within the safety community and the local ASSE chapter.

Nomination packets were recently distributed to Cascade Chapter members and past conference attendees. You may nominate yourself or a safety professional who you believe has made an outstanding contribution to the community. Nominations are due by October 30th, and nominees need not be ASSE members.

OR-OSHA Public Education Workshops

Oregon OSHA Public Education classes provide information on occupational safety and health requirements in Oregon. The instructors introduce the values of safety and health management to those responsibile for occupational safety and health in their workplace.

OR-OSHA does not charge for workshops, online courses, or on-site education. These services are funded in part by Oregon employer workers’ compensation premium assessments and are provided to assist Oregon employers that want to more effectively manage their companies safety and health program.
